What to look for in a yoga retreat
We all have seen a yoga retreat that has sparked our interest and made us wonder if and why we should join a yoga retreat. Today, I want to discuss what to look for in a yoga retreat. There are a lot of things that can draw you to retreat, but here are some key points to focus on.
The Instructor

Choosing an instructor for a yoga retreat is really key. You want to know that the instructor is someone you can connect with. Also, the leader should be organized and responsible. I highly recommend practicing with them in some form, either virtually or in person. Be sure that the instructor is someone that you can spend time with and learn from.
The Location

Make sure the location for the retreat is a location that will inspire you. This includes the region or area and the home. You need to feel comfortable in the environment. Also, what amenities does the property offer? Are there things that you want to enjoy offered there?
The Attendees

Who is invited on this retreat? Is it women only, couples, co-ed? Ask yourself would you feel comfortable being vulnerable and open with attendees? If you are a woman and uncomfortable sharing and being open in front of a man, a co-ed retreat may not be for you. Make sure that if there are things you want to opt out of you have the option to skip parts of the retreat.
What’s included

Confirm what is all included in the price. Additional services may not be included. Massages, facials, extra services. Housing, Meals and yoga should always be included in the price.
The Details

What are the details and focus of the retreat? A retreat should offer more than just yoga classes, and activities. There should be a goal and focus of what the attendees will gain from their time there. You should walk away feeling like you have filled your cup. You should have gained perspective, community, self love and time to recharge your battery.
Down TIme

Every retreat should offer down time. A time for self reflection, and a time for absorption of the information offered. A yoga retreat should be about self care. A big part of self care is quiet time and time for introspection.
